Reading
We are a school that loves to read! Every child has the opportunity to read in school daily – be it in their class reading area; outside at playtime; or in our fantastic library. RWI is used to teach the children to read and reading at home continues with our new book scheme books, which are sent home daily. We celebrate reading as a whole school in different ways throughout the year: world book day; the book bus visiting; bedtime stories for EYFS; special class reading evenings; and with authors and illustrators coming in to do workshops. The teaching of phonics, has been identified as a key strength at our school; the school is involved in sharing this good practice and supporting other schools.
